We definitely would love to hear from one and all if you can find the time.
It appears that it's going to be another beautiful day here in Vero Beach. Since we dropped our dinghy motor off at the dock yesterday for be serviced, we are a bit "boat bound" today. We learned quickly, yesterday afternoon that's it's almost impossible to paddle the dinghy against this FL wind. Thanks goes out to one of our new friends, Ed, who came to our rescue and gave us a tow back to TT2.
Since we're dinghy-less today, we plan to take TT2 our for a little day cruise this afternoon and give her a little more "shakedown" time.
We'll probably be leaving Vero Beach on Thursday and our next scheduled stop will be Cocoa, FL where we'll pick up our forwarded mail. Cocoa is about 54 miles from here and we'll most likely make it a two day run, dropping the hook somewhere along the way for overnight.
We met a fellow yesterday, Rick, and he and his wife will be leaving today to return to Ft. Pierce and wait for good weather to make a run outside to Fernadinia Beach, FL, which is he northern most point in FL. This is about a 36 - 42 hour sail and they do it by taking 2 hours on and 2 hours off at the helm. Rick said although this sounds brutal to us "newbies" it was not a bad trip and it makes the trip faster than traveling the ICW due to a few draw bridges. He offered to let us tag along and said we would be just fine. But, we're still waiting on our bikes and now our dinghy motor so we had to pass on his offer. Besides, I'm sure there at a few things along the ICW that we'll want to see now that we're out of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and the scenery is becoming a little more to our liking.
The picture above is Rick's double ender that they will be sailing out on today. They've been out this time for about 3 months and after he listed the troubles they've had with their 1985 boat, I don't feel quite so bad about our recent woes.
What a beautiful sunset Nancy snapped last night.
We see several of these Spanish Moss, moss and fern covered trees scattered around Vero Beach. This one is just outside the shower rooms at the marina.

Hey Tom,
This is Tony at Nova. Been keeping up with your blog. Sounds like y'all are having a real adventure. I really like reading your blog posts and seeing the photos. You look like a regular seafaring man with that beard and the tropical shirt from one of the photos in an earlier post. Sorry to hear about some of the troubles you've had. Hope everything smooths out for you and you can just enjoy the trip for a while. I guess a few troubles are to be expected on an adventure like this though. Keep posting and shooting photos cause I am reading every one of them. Be careful but hope you have a great time.
Tony
Sure glad to read some more about your trip. Glad Pat was able to help! She is a help to us all! Hope your bikes come soon so you can move on and write more for us. I think you will enjoy the ICW more as you go along. You reminded me of all the Spanish Moss down in FL but I have not seen any in FM. had a wonderful time with Caroline and Gabriel when Pat brought them over and we went out to the Gabsebo where they could run and play while Pat and I visited. Love you, be careful, Mom.
This is just a test to see if I can posta comment. Jerry
What do you know...It works...So keep up the good times and be safe.
