Nancy and I spent yesterday paying for our "play time" the past few days. I cleaned the boat from the rub rail to the waterline using Bar Keeper's Friend to get rid of most of the dirt and grime that builds up on any boat. After this was done, my intention was to wax the same areas. Fortunately, for me, the skies turned black and it began to rain. I will get it waxed, just not sure when.

While I was cleaning the boat sides, Nancy set about doing several little tasks that needed to be completed topside.

Later, Nancy took two loads of laundry into the marina washroom and got them going. Then, while the clothes were drying, she biked 3-4 miles round trip to the Winn-Dixie store for a few more supplies. Pat had just driven us to the same store while they were here on Saturday, but it seems we are always running out of something and when a store is close by, we try to take advantage so we don't run out of supplies in the middle of nowhere. She did admit that while the clothes were washing she took a short nap in one of the lounge chairs.

Later, we took advantage of the great showers here at the marina, had a nice dinner of left overs, enjoyed a glass of wine and had time to read a little of our books before bedtime. The days just seem to fly by and I think we're learning to appreciate each minute of everyday regardless of what we're doing. Life is so short, enjoy each and every moment!!!!

You don't need to feel sorry for us, I just wanted you all to know that it's not all fun and games out here. But, somehow, even the work seems a little more pleasant here on the boat than it used to around the house. At least there's no snow to shovel, grass to mow nor weeds to pull!!

We were supposed to leave St Augustine, this morning, but we're still waiting on a UPS delivery with our new chart plotter chip. The chip we have been using was just for the coast of FL and the Bahamas. The new one will have the entire east coast from Maine to Florida and include the Bahamas. The chart plotter, at least for us, is an invaluable tool. It marks the channel and shows the depth of the channel and the surrounding areas. It also marks "spoil areas" which are shallow or hazardous points along the way. It show our heading, both latitude and longitude, and just keeps us going along the straight, sometimes windy and narrow "ditch". With all this technology, you would have to wonder how we've managed to run aground three different times since we started. Believe me, we wonder the same as well.

We hope everyone has a great week and we'll keep you posted.

Well, hello, it is me again! I just happened on this Blog and there was a new one! It has rained in some parts of Ft.Myers today but all we got here in the area of the Palms was a few drops. Pat and I have plans to go out tomorrow but heavy rain is predicted so we will make final plans in the A.M. We had a meeting in the Atrium, all residents were to attend. It was how we were to evacuate to the 4th floor and all residents will be here, including Assited Living and Memory Care! We on the 4th floor are to share our bathrooms. Can you imagine all of this. Think I will lock my door and hide in the shower!! That won't work cause the staff has keys to our apartments. This floor has cement above and below us. A friend of mine(90)made individual Key Lime Pies for some of her friends and it was the best pie of that kind I have ever tasted! Tonight for dinner I had French chicken stew. very good. Tasted and looked like our beef stew but with cut up chicken thighs. for dessert we had Carrot Cake with Maple Walnut Ice Cream. had my monthly checkup today by Dr. Andy's NP and she said all my vital Signs were very good and she will see me in 2 months and if I need him just to call! One woman here who will be 100 July 15th said she dared a Hurricane to be here then because she is having a big celebration! Enough boring news from the inland so I will say Good Night!nj

Morning Mary,
Sounds like you should start a blog re what it's like to live in a nice retirement home. A place where people enjoy each others company and the food is good. We're heading north again today. Will post soon.
